PORTLING COASTGUARD RESCUE TEAM
For many years Portling Coastguard operated from a double garage on Portling Farm. The Foot and Mouth epidemic closed the station for a number of months and team members were forced to operate out of temporary addresses. This brought changes and on 18 July 2005 HRH The Duke of Kent arrived to open the newly constructed Portling Station.
The new station provides the Team with an office/training room, shower, toilet and kitchen facilities, a large garage area for all equipment, vehicle and trailer, this is also used as a training room.
Portling CG was also fortunate to receive a new vehicle to go along with the new station. This was delivered in December 2004 and replaced a Land Rover 90 SWB. This new vehicle, a Nissan Navaro crew cab, is capable of carrying 5 persons, with equipment and also tows a trailer.
